Our beloved Wendell Steven Erickson was called home on October 24, 2013. He was born to Henry G. Erickson and Nettie Severson Erickson on June 1, 1945 inMurray, Utah.He married the love of his life Angie Ruth Gallegos on April 6, 1966. He joined the United States Army in 1966 where he was picked by his peers as the distinguished graduate of his class. Receiving many medals; national survival medal, sharp shooter, good conduct and Second class missile badge. He was sent to South Korea to operate the Hawk Korea Missile Defense. He was
honorably discharged in 1968. Wendell had many accomplishments and hobbies that he loved. He was on the Murray High track team in which he received many trophies. He was an avid lover of music and was a talented drummer. Wendell also loved golfing, swimming, water skiing and later in life he loved taking care of his special horse, Princess. Swede was a man of great faith. If you had the honor of meeting Swede, you knew you had a friend for life. A friend who was kind, generous, inspirational and most of all hilarious. His optimism and positive attitude was contagious. He always made you feel that you were "number one". Swede brought out the best in everyone and his wisdom taught great lessons. He was a loving husband, wonderful caring father and grandfather. Wendell is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Angie; three children, Geraldean (Mike) Sweat, Russell (Natalie) Erickson, Deana (Jonathan) Holmberg; grandchildren, Broc, Kylie, Dalton, Kade, Maya, and Jada; siblings, Reed (Louise) Erickson, Clint (Katie) Erickson, Gwen Williams, Hal (Pat) Erickson, and Lois (Steve) Stevens. How we will miss his love and humor. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, brothers-in-laws and sister-in-laws, all of whom love him dearly and will miss him greatly. He now joins his parents; and brothers, Brent and Rodney Erickson who preceded him in death.
